Ayaat e Shifa – Verses for healing (English and Urdu)

There are two sayings we have found related with Ayaat e Shifa the first one is as mentioned below.

Once teacher Abu Al Qasim’s Qasheeri son got ill. There was no hope of his survival. Abu al Qasim was really tensed. Then he saw Allah subhan wa taala in his dream Allah taala said: “All those verses which mention about heal – shifa collect them and then read them and blow (expel air from mouth) over the patient. Then write them on a plate and wash it (The writing on plate can be done with water of saffron or hilal food colors and do not let the water get out when you wash the writing and then give that water to the patient).  It was done and the Son of Abu Al Qasim got well.

The second references just have the difference that Abu Al Qasim Qasheer saw Prophet Muhammad in his dream and Rasool Allah said “Why do you stay away from verses for healing. Why don’t you ask for healing from them. Then i got up and realized, looked forward and found Ayaat e Shifa at 6 places in Quran.

The following six verses are the Verses of Shifa – Heal.

1. Chapter 9 Sura Al Tauba Verse 14

وَیَشْفِ صُدُوۡرَ قَوْمٍ مُّؤْمِنِیۡنَ

and will heal the breasts of the believers

 

2. Chapter 10 Sura Younas Verse 57

وَشِفَآءٌ لِّمَا فِی الصُّدُوۡرِ۬ۙ

and healing of hearts

 

3. Chapter 16 Sura Al Nahal Verse 69

 یَخْرُجُ مِنۡۢ بُطُوۡنِہَا شَرَابٌ مُّخْتَلِفٌ اَلْوٰنُہٗ فِیۡہِ شِفَآءٌ لِّلنَّاسِ

There comes out from their bellies a drink of varied colors in which ***there is healing for the people***

 

4. Chapter 17 Sura Al Bani Israel Verse

وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ الْقُرْاٰنِ مَا ہُوَ شِفَآءٌ وَّ رَحْمَۃٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِیۡنَ

And We send down in Quran that which is a healing and a mercy to the believers

 

5. Chapter 26 Sura Al Shu’aara Verse 80

وَ اِذَا مَرِضْتُ فَہُوَ یَشْفِیۡنِ
And when I am ill, it is He who heals me.

 

6. Chapter 41 Sura Haa Meem Al Sajda Verse 44

 

قُلْ ہُوَ لِلَّذِیۡنَ اٰمَنُوۡا ہُدًی وَّ شِفَآءٌ

Say you, ‘that is a guidance and a cure for the believers.’

 

After writing this incident (Tabqaat Al Shafia : 3 : 246) said that i have seen many Sufi’s writing this verses and giving them to patients to drink.
